John McCain is shamelessly lying to you. Hit him in the wallet!

Hello folks, and thank you for dropping by to read about the McCain Lies Fund. We hope you will consider the ideas presented here, and join the effort to show John McCain that there is no longer any place for his dishonest, dishonorable politics in the White House.

If only there were honesty in signmaking, too.

If only there were honesty in signmaking, too.

Eight years of petty attack politics are enough, but McCain is promising four to eight more - and he has already gotten started with his shameful lies and his attempts to distract you from the real issues facing America. That’s where we come in. The McCain Lies Fund (MLF) is a simple, decentralized, and very powerful idea that will directly help Barack Obama become President of the United States in November. Your participation in the MLF is a direct message to all current and future presidential candidates: Demonstrate integrity, or lose the election.

There is nothing to sign up for, and you can participate without giving us any information at all. Simply commit to donating either $2 or $4 to Barack Obama’s presidential campaign every time you hear or read a gross distortion of the truth from John McCain’s campaign. It’s easy to do, because McCain’s lies are coming fast and furious!

Instead of trying to donate $2 each time you come across a McCain lie, just keep a tally of your total. When you reach $16, go to Barack Obama’s campaign website at http://donate.barackobama.com, and donate that $16. Then start again.

Did you just hear McCain pretend that Democrats want to teach sex ed to kindergarteners? Tally it! Did McCain just claim that Sarah Palin said “No!” to the Bridge to Nowhere? Tally it! And there’s no reason to ignore a lie when you hear it again. If John McCain lies to you over and over, tally it again and again!

So, why $16? First of all, it’s affordable and repeatable. The Obama/Biden campaign relies upon small, affordable donations from regular folks like us. Secondly, it’s unusual! We assume that Obama’s campaign probably doesn’t get many donations in the amount of $16. They’re smart folks over there, and they can track the number of $16 donations they’re receiving. If the MLF proves successful, they’ll see their $16 donations jump to a higher rate of occurrence very quickly. We don’t know exactly what information the Obama/Biden campaign can release, but perhaps they’ll choose to share some data with us about how many $16 donations the Obama/Biden campaign is receiving. So you may be able to see the direct impact of your participation!

Now, why should YOU participate? Here are some reasons for you to consider.

  1. If you’re like us, you believe that America deserves a President who conducts himself in a respectable, honorable way. John McCain has revealed his fundamental similarities to George Bush’s administration by surrounding himself with the same lobbying groups, engaging in the same Karl Rove/George Bush politics, and supporting the same failed George Bush/Dick Cheney policies. To put it simply, America deserves better than a once-noble sellout like John McCain, who promises change but keeps his fingers crossed.
  2. There is no more effective way to stop John McCain’s lies than to show him that his lies are directly tied to Barack Obama’s war chest. Each lie McCain tells will cause another wave of donations to Obama/Biden. And the more participants we have, the stronger that message will be. More money for Obama/Biden means greater opportunity to combat the lies, more leverage to frame the election around the issues instead of fake controversies, and a better chance for Obama to win in November.
  3. It’s fun! Instead of dismissing McCain’s many distortions and lies as background noise, this is an opportunity to recognize them as gross insults to the American public. Catch them all, and be amazed at just how ridiculous McCain has become in his attempt to keep the White House in the hands of special interests and unfit would-be “leaders.”
  4. If word of mouth leads 50,000 people to reach the $16 mark just twice, John McCain’s lies will directly contribute over $1.5 million directly to the Obama/Biden campaign. At a rate of $2 per McCain lie, that’s a mere 16 instances of McCain lies per person to raise all that money. If many more people participate, or if people contribute $4 or $8 per lie, we can raise millions more!
  5. Exactly how easy is it to find a McCain lie - or to put it more kindly, a McCain gross distortion? Well, McCain’s “Original Mavericks” TV ad contains at least three of them! See for yourself:

An *actual* Maverick (with Goose)

As you know, there are a lot of ways to get involved. You can volunteer your time for Obama’s campaign, and you can donate to his campaign in different amounts. Perhaps you already have. Since the MLF is simple and inexpensive, we hope you will add it to your existing efforts to put the White House in responsible hands this year.

Thank you for reading this — and please participate in the MLF!

Um.. wopuldn’t it be more fair to subtract $2 every time Obama or Palin also “stretch the truth”? Kinda one sided- don’t you think?

I suppose you could do that. Of course, given McCain’s recent “lie early/lie often” strategy, your donations might be slowed down by, what, 15%?
